Kyoto Animation publishes a video remembering the victims of the attack

As previously announced, and already being July 18 in Japan, it marks the first anniversary since the attack on the first building of the Kyoto Animation studios. In memory of the victims who died in this event, the studios published a special video.

The video has multiple comments from the studio's production team regarding what happened, which express the following:

“Due to that event irreplaceable companions were lost. Since last year we remember our good friends and it has been difficult for everyone. No matter how many moons pass, the feeling does not go away. For many years, we have worked as a production company, and our workers expressed their words regarding this situation:

Coming to today, it is like reliving that day. Remember those people at their jobs, hoping that nothing had happened. To think that a year has already passed is really difficult. At production sites, it is difficult to accept reality day by day.

A year has passed since then. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all your support. Our daily life, however, has changed very quickly. Even today, the memories of that day, the product of irrational anger, are still there. We will never forget him.

What we can do is build a path to the future inspired by his memories. The unforgettable feelings of others will be sublimated to create unforgettable projects. That is one aspect that will never change. We will go forward, again for the next decade and hundreds of years into the future. Kyoto Animation will continue forward.

Since that day, I have faced many feelings. There would be many colleagues here with whom I worked if nothing had happened. I have spent a long time wondering what we could have done to avoid it, if there was anything that could be done.

Thinking about our comrades and the ties that still unite us. We can't help but remember them, but we still have their wills with us. We will continue with their wills for a long time, fulfilling them.

From now on, we will make a minute of silence in this video, praying for the souls who left during this event. For everyone in the world, we will continue to deliver animations that represent our dreams, hopes and emotions.

Kyoto Animation. July 18, 2020. "

The video will be available only later today from 10:30 a.m. (Japan Standard Time). Finally, Kyoto Animation reported that an in-person act in memory of the deceased will be avoided. "Originally, we had planned to locate a temporary monument on the site to remember the deceased and that everyone could see it, but due to the spread of COVID-19, we have decided that this is not possible given the danger posed by crowds of people" they reported.
