Chapter 2: Midnight Train

When strong men gather it is because new tactics must be made, having the island present for their benign plans. Conversations reveal necessary information and open up irresponsible enigmas, as for Zeke, who does not know why he can use a power similar to that of royalty. The train in the darkness leaves to its destination, Liberia, and for the duration of the journey the Elders will be so happy that they will give themselves up to the intoxicating nectar while they praise Gabi. The arrival marks the return to the bosom of the family, some of them healthy soldiers and others sickened by the traumas of war, which Falco decides to help. Meeting of inferior to be able to survive, not to lose the little gained without caring the sufferings that this could cause.

Opinion of the chapter

As I like to call this kind of chapter: it has been a chapter of transition, where things are told that will be triggered in the future and prepare us for the future. These chapters are important because they raise expectations and because you can go deeper into the characters. I think a chapter has been good when you have a lot to say about its content, not just about the action scenes. Going elsewhere, I just got to notice that they are using (although I don't know if in all the scenes) 3D animations but without seeming to be such. When Udo was moving I realized it, because the 3D movement is different from the 2D, in the first one it feels, at least I feel it, something strange. But it does not affect much and is almost not noticeable, being able to say that the animation is well maintained anyway.

Meeting, tactics and plans

What do you do when your nation, which was an international power, ends up falling apart? Make new plans. I find it interesting how national and international politics are captured in this anime, of course without reaching its real depth. Although Marley was the victor, the era of the titans seems to be coming to an end, the weapons, more and more sophisticated, are able against a "natural" power. Did science defeat magic? This is where Zeke appears, proposing the failed plan years ago, a plan that will open the doors to bring Marley's greatness back. We still do not know the full extent of the power of the Primeval Titan, nor the full power of the Co-ordinates. We have been given brief sketches, but nothing so concrete. The plan is that the Elders will show their courage to their masters.

Ships and Nightmares

Magath comments that in the three years that have passed, no ship that was sent to Paradis has returned. Zeke says they may have another titan besides Eren's. Let's remember that they captured the Female and the Colossal, but the most likely used is the Colossal. What are the "last humans" doing? What really happened to those ships? They leave the doubt about them, we have not seen them nor do we know what they do, so it leaves the possibility open to almost anything, although the chapter has already given clues to this.

Reiner has warlike consequences. It is normal for a person to be disturbed after certain events, vividly remembering those events that do not allow him to sleep peacefully. Although in Reiner's case, it seems to me, there is a problem of polarity, that is: he admires them and hates them, he wants to remember and at the same time forget, he feels that they are not bad but he must force himself to believe that they are. This can be the cause of his nightmares.

Drunkenness of joy

When you came out of a bad event alive, didn't you feel like celebrating it in a big way? And I say "alive", because something as "superficial" as proposing to a person and having him tell you that yes is difficult and if it is negative the answer kills you inside. Something like that, but on a larger scale, is what has happened with the surviving Elders. They are drunk with happiness, Colt being the most drunk, but their celebration is justified. Gabi's narcissism is increased, because to a great extent she is the savior of that battalion of eldians, who feel grateful to her, so they celebrate her as if she were their own goddess. In the wagons the happiness runs through the midnight train.

Reunion and meetings

Seeing a loved one after a great time causes a great shock in the souls of the receiving relatives. War causes separation and sadness; how many people will not see their relatives again? Here we see a more joyful panorama, thanks to Gabi, but I imagine the scene if she had not played the role of a hero.

The main ones meet their loved ones, but there is a section that has no one: the crazy ones. Falcon, after having seen his family, goes with them and wants to help them. There we meet a long-haired, thin-skinned character, who is emphasized, as he is shown in a shot where he occupies the image. Some of you already know who he is, the rest you will know in the following chapters, but be aware of those details. There is only one doubt left, which happens after all this: which person committed suicide?

Eldianos by Marley

Zeke, Reiner, Gallard, Colt and Pieck (what a beautiful woman!) meet to talk about what they will do. The plans are simply complicated, but they have the help of an important family, the Tybur. Who are they? We do not know, few facts are given to us and their real importance we will only know in the following chapters. The Elders seem to suffer, collectively, from the Stockholm Syndrome. They may not love Marley, but they have been conditioned to live among themselves and to recognize their inferiority. This is curious, but we will go deeper.

It seems to me that the total content has been reduced and that they have omitted many things, I have not read the manga, I only have that impression. If that's the case, it also seems to me to be a good synthesis, because the important things are not neglected and the characters do not become superfluous. Even when they don't speak they give some information (like Magath in the eldianos reunion). May the quality be maintained, amen.
