The “ High School DxD ”
franchise , known for its popularity in the fantasy and ecchi genre, has
generated great expectations among its fans by announcing that on
November 17 at noon (Japan Time) an “important announcement” will be made
related to “Junior High School DxD” , the first official spin-off of
the series.
The message was posted on the official social media
and mentions that the news is scheduled for November 17, just days before the
release of the second volume of this spin-off, scheduled for November 20. The
statement encourages fans to enjoy the first volume and make their reservations
for the second.

“Junior High School DxD” marks a milestone in the
franchise as it is the first official work not written by Ichiei Ishibumi, the
author of the original series. Instead, this new story is
written by Rippu Shinonome, with Ishibumi supervising the project. The plot
takes place in a different context than the main series and explores other
characters in a setting more focused on light comedy and school life.
Despite the excitement over the announcement, many
fans have expressed skepticism due to the franchise's tendency to present even
minor news as big announcements. In previous instances, supposedly
"big news" has turned out to be promotional products, video game
collaborations or marketing campaigns, leading to some caution among long-time
fans.
The final season of the anime adaptation, “High School
DxD Hero,” aired in the spring of 2018, more than six years ago. Although the
franchise has maintained a loyal fan base, many are wondering why there hasn’t
been a continuation of the story.
One of the factors behind this long pause could be
related to the change of animation studio that took place on “Hero.” After
three seasons produced by TNK, the studio Passione took over the reins of the
project, radically changing the character designs. Although this
decision was welcomed by some, it generated controversy among others, which
could have complicated the planning of future installments.
Among the most optimistic speculations is the
possibility of an anime adaptation of Junior High School DxD or even a new
season of the main series. However, considering the franchise's track
record of announcements, it could also be about less significant developments,
such as a special event, merchandise, or additional collaborations.
