During the special event “ Rakuen Tsuihou -Impelled by 10th Anniversary- ”, held on November 16 at the Shinjuku Wald 9 cinema in Tokyo, the production of a sequel titled “Rakuen Tsuiho: Kokoro no Resonance” was officially announced, which will hit theaters in 2026. The news was accompanied by a visual teaser and a promotional trailer, exciting fans who have waited almost a decade for this continuation.

The new installment will reunite the original creative team from the 2014 film , including director Seiji Mizushima and screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, who brought the first work to life. “Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled from Paradise” stood out at the time for being a completely animated sci-fi film in 3D, which marked a milestone in the anime industry. The story, set in a post-apocalyptic world, centers on Angela Balzac, an agent sent from a digitalized society known as DEVA, to investigate suspicious activities on Earth.

The announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the original film, which is currently in a commemorative screening cycle starting November 15 in select theaters in Japan for a limited two-week run. This re-release aims to revive audience excitement and attract new generations who may have missed the film upon its initial release.

Concrete plot details for “Rakuen Tsuiho: Kokoro no Resonance” have yet to be revealed, but the title suggests a focus on emotional connections and human dilemmas, elements that were present in the original film. Fans have already begun speculating on social media, anticipating the possible development of DEVA’s universe and main characters.

Synopsis of Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled from Paradise

In a future where a massive disaster has devastated the Earth, most of humanity has abandoned their physical bodies and relocated in digital form to DEVA, an advanced space station orbiting the devastated planet. Free from the constraints of traditional existence, such as death and hunger, the inhabitants of this virtual reality reside in relative peace until Frontier Setter, a skilled hacker, infiltrates the system and spreads subversive messages among the population.

Considered a security threat by the authorities, Frontier Setter is pursued by Angela Balzac, a member of DEVA's law enforcement. When the hacker's signal is traced to Earth, Angela assumes physical form, transfers her consciousness into a clone body, and travels to the underworld to confront the threat. On Earth, she is assisted by Dingo, a charismatic agent, and during her journey to uncover the mystery behind Frontier Setter, she slowly uncovers surprising truths about the wasteland that part of humanity still refers to as home, as well as the paradise above.
