The HIDIVE platform surprised fans this Sunday by airing an incomplete version of episode 21 of Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho, the animated adaptation of the novels by Moto'o Nakanishi. According to the company, this situation was due to limitations in the simulcast programming, which forced the release of a provisional cut of the chapter that featured missing frames, absence of filters and incomplete graphic effects.

HIDIVE's official response

The following day, HIDIVE issued an official statement explaining that the licensor provided an interim version to comply with the scheduled issuance on September 1. The platform reaffirmed its commitment to subscribers, ensuring that the final version of the episode will premiere as soon as possible and keeping its promise to offer high-quality content.

Origins of history

Sword of the Demon Hunter is based on the novels published by Nakanishi, whose first volume appeared in June 2019 with illustrations by Tamaki, and which concluded in November 2023 with a total of 14 volumes. The work also has a manga adaptation by Yu Satomi, serialized in Monthly Action, whose eighth volume went on sale on March 19.

The plot places us in the Edo era, where Jinta and her sister must flee their home and end up in a mountain village. There, over the years, Jinta becomes a swordsman in the service of a priestess of the local shrine. His mission to eliminate a demon triggers an unexpected journey: the creature speaks of a destiny that will connect him to the future, starting an adventure that spans different eras as Jinta fights not only against the demonic threat, but also against his own dark nature.
