The author of the manga Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (aka Kaguya-sama: Love is War), Aka Akasaka announced via Twitter that he will be releasing a new manga titled Oshi no Ko.
The manga will begin to be published in this year's twenty-first edition of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine on April 23. Aka Akasaka will be in charge of writing it while Mengo Yokoyari (Kuzu no Honkai) illustrates it. Akasaka also confirmed that this work will be published simultaneously with the manga Kaguya-sama: Love is War, without interrupting its publication.
The story will focus on an "extremely cute" protagonist and will show the entertainment industry "from a point of view never before shown."
For his part, Akasaka began publishing the Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015, and later moved the publication to Young Jump magazine in March 2016. The publisher published the Seventeenth compilation volume on January 22.
This manga was adapted to anime by A-1 Pictures studios and released in January 2019. A second season is scheduled to premiere on April 11. In December 2019, the work had surpassed 9 million copies in circulation, and in 2020 the manga won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Prize in the "General" category.
