It seems
that the time has come to say goodbye to Rudeus Greyrat and his peculiar family
again. KADOKAWA confirmed that Mushoku Tensei: Dasoku-hen will come
to an end with the publication of its fourth volume, scheduled for November
25, 2026 in Japan. This collection of stories, known internationally as Mushoku
Tensei: Redundant Reincarnation, is responsible for narrating what happened
to the characters after the events of the original light novel.
Although
Rudeus' main adventure was already over, there were still quite a few
unfinished business within the Greyrat family. Unlike the great battles and
conflicts that marked the original story, this sequel focuses on the daily
lives of the protagonists, their personal relationships, and the events
that took place after Rudeus managed to overcome his greatest challenges.
What
will the latest volume of Mushoku Tensei include?
According
to the description published by KADOKAWA, the fourth and final volume will
bring together three stories. One of them will be Lucy no Yuuutsu
(Lucy's Melancholy), an unpublished story related to the marriage of Lucy, the
daughter of Rudeus and Sylphiette. Nanahoshi no Gourmet will also be
included, which will show Nanahoshi's visits and encounters with the
protagonists from his own perspective, as well as Saigo no Sudachi, a
story focused on the independence of the family's children.
The
publication will once again feature the texts of Rifujin na Magonote and
the illustrations of Shirotaka, who have worked together since the first
volumes of the franchise. In addition, the publisher is preparing a special
edition that will include an acrylic support with an unpublished illustration
of Rudeus, made by Shirotaka himself.
It should
be recalled that Mushoku Tensei: Dasoku-hen originally began publication
on the Shosetsuka ni Narou portal in May 2015, where it continued until
September 2017. However, it was not until June 2023 that KADOKAWA began
publishing these stories in light novel format under its MF Books imprint. The
third volume arrived in Japanese bookstores in June 2025.
On the
other hand, Seven Seas Entertainment will publish the final volume in
English on July 6, 2027, thus completing the international distribution of
this collection. It is important to note that this closure corresponds
exclusively to Dasoku-hen's additional stories, so it does not represent
the end of the anime adaptation or a new outcome for the main novel.
