NHK television reported that Akai Ko-en guitarist, songwriter and frontman Maisa Tsuno passed away at the age of 29. The report indicated that police are investigating the case as a possible suicide, after Tsuno was found in her home located in the Suginami neighborhood of Tokyo at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Tsuno was one of the founding members of the band Akai Ko-en and the composer of all the songs performed to date. She also composed music for artists like Airi Suzuki, SMAP, Morning Musume, and more.
In the anime industry, Maisa Tsuno was one of the songwriters who lent her talents to Shinichiro Watanabe's original anime, Carole & Tuesday. Tsuno composed the song “Round & Laundry,” which appeared in the third episode of the series and was performed by the leads.
On the other hand, Akai Ko-en performed the closing theme of the animated adaptation of the Kuutei Dragons manga, the ending number 14 of the anime Ninja Slayer From Animation and the ending theme of the anime Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta, to name a few. Finally, the single “Orange / Pray” is scheduled to be released in Japan on November 25th.
