Following the broadcast of the twenty-third and final episode of the new anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi , Urusei Yatsura ( Those Obnoxious Aliens ), the production of a second season was announced to premiere sometime in 2024 in Japan.
Let's remember that this second season was already confirmed since this anime adaptation was announced, because the production was announced with a total of 46 episodes that would be divided into two broadcasts . However, while some expected the second season to arrive this year, it looks like it will take a bit longer than planned.
The first season premiered during the Fall-2022 (October-December) season in Japan and had a total of 23 episodes, while the HIDIVE platform is in charge of its distribution in the West. Since its announcement, it had already been reported that it "will adapt selected stories from the manga and will take place over four quarters or a full year."
On the other hand, Takahashi published the original manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine between September 1978 and February 1987, compiling the work in thirty-four volumes. The manga inspired a 195-episode anime adaptation released in October 1981, a series of films, and a series of OVAs.
