A press release reported that the manga written and illustrated by Shun Umezawa , “ Darwin Jihen ( The Darwin Incident )”, will have an anime adaptation. The statement included a promotional image, but did not include production details or a scheduled release date .
The author
shared a special illustration to celebrate this announcement, accompanied by
the following message: « Both the production and the voice actors
are 100% serious. As the original author, I can guarantee this. I think it will
be a great anime . »
For his
part, Shun Umezawa began publishing the manga through Kodansha 's Monthly
Afternoon magazine in June 2020, where it is still in serialization.
Previously, the author published other mangas such as “Panty Stocking no Youna
Sora no Shita”, “Ippiki to Kyuujuukyuuhiki to” and “Pinkie wa Nido Bell wo
Narasu”.
Synopsis

The
Animal Liberation Alliance, an eco-terrorist organization, rescues a pregnant
chimpanzee from an animal experimentation laboratory so that she gives birth to
a half-human, half-chimpanzee "humanzee" named Charlie. Fifteen years
later, Charlie's human adoptive parents are prepared to send him to a normal
high school, where he makes his first friend: a human girl named Lucy.
Meanwhile, however, the ALA's stance has become increasingly extreme, and now
they are here to drag Charlie into their terrorist plot...
