Solo Leveling already surpasses One Piece and Kimetsu no Yaiba on Crunchyroll

After its most recent broadcast, " Solo Leveling " has reached a new level. With Episode 11 of the second season, the series has become the highest-rated anime on Crunchyroll, surpassing heavyweights like "One Piece" and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba."

As of this writing, "Solo Leveling" has over 604,200 ratings, narrowly surpassing "One Piece" (~596,900 ratings) and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" (~587,700 ratings). The craziest thing is that it achieved this in just 23 episodes, while "One Piece" has over 1,122 episodes and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is on its 63rd episode.

This success comes as no surprise to those who have followed the franchise's story. Before A-1 Pictures announced the 2024 adaptation project, fans were already clamoring for it: in 2019, an online petition gathered more than 200,000 signatures calling for an anime adaptation. And when it finally arrived, it lived up to expectations, becoming Crunchyroll's most-watched anime of 2024.

It's worth clarifying that these numbers reflect the overall ratings for the series, not the likes or dislikes of individual episodes. Additionally, other Korean webtoon adaptations on Crunchyroll, such as "Noblesse," "The God of High School," and "Tower of God," have had their moments, but none have reached the level of "Solo Leveling." The big question now is: Will it continue to crush it, or will another anime come along to take its place?

Synopsis of Solo Leveling

Humanity teetered on the brink a decade ago, when the first gates appeared: portals connecting to other dimensions that harbor monsters immune to conventional weapons. Along with the appearance of these gates, several humans were transformed into hunters and endowed with superhuman abilities. Responsible for entering the gates and clearing the dungeons within them, many hunters decided to form guilds to ensure their livelihood.

Sung Jin-Woo is an E-Rank Hunter, nicknamed the weakest Hunter in all of humanity. While exploring a dungeon that was supposedly safe, he and his group find an unusual tunnel leading deeper into the dungeon. Lured by the possibility of treasure, the group pushes forward, only to be confronted by horrors beyond their imagination. Miraculously, Jin-Woo survives the incident and soon discovers he now has access to an interface visible only to him. This mysterious system promises him the power he always dreamed of, but everything comes at a price.
