The
official website of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise
announced that the television edition of the films Beginnings and Eternal will
begin airing on October 12 at 10:00 a.m. Spanish time
(5:00 p.m. JST) on 28 stations affiliated with MBS/TBS. This version
will have 11 episodes and already has a promotional
commercial available on its official website.
History
and legacy of the series
The original
12-episode anime premiered in January 2011 and was subsequently
streamed on Crunchyroll. The compilation films Beginnings and Eternal arrived
in Japan in October 2012, followed by the sequel Rebellion in
October 2013. Aniplex of America released the series and movies in North
America, and Funimation also offered streaming.
Next
film: Walpurgisnacht: Rising
The
official sequel, Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht:
Rising, will be released in February 2026. Originally scheduled
for winter 2024, its release was delayed to ensure higher quality.
The film will feature the original team, including Magica Quartet,
director Akiyuki Simbo, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, character
designer Ume Aoki and studio SHAFT.
Spin-offs
and anime games
The
television adaptation of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side
Story began in January 2020, with its second season in July 2021 and
the third in April 2022. The game for iOS and Android debuted
in Japan in August 2017, with an English version in the United States and
Canada in June 2019. The English version closed in September 2020 and the
Japanese version in July 2024. For its part, Magia Exedra launched
a mobile version on March 27 and on PC via Steam on July 17.
