During
the Aniplex Online Fest event, Inherit the Winds (Kaze
wo Tsugumono), a new original anime set in the Bakumatsu
era in Kyoto, was announced. The story follows a soldier who has lost his
memories and is rescued by the notorious Shinsengumi member, Sōji
Okita. He gives him a new name, Junsuke Tachikawa, and with him
begins a renewed life in the midst of the soldiers of Mibu.
A story
of honor and rediscovery
The anime
presents a scenario full of historical drama: a man without memory who must
forge his destiny next to the Shinsengumi. Beyond the action, the play promises
to explore human bonds, loyalty, and the weight of identity in a conflict-torn
Japan.

From the
stages to the anime
Yutaka
Narui, playwright and founder of the Caramel Box theatre company, had already
worked on multiple plays about the Shinsengumi. Curiously, one of his
theatrical productions also bore the title Kaze wo Tsugumono,
although written in a different way. Despite this, this anime is officially
listed as an original project, thus offering a new vision of
the mythical group of samurai.
