The
manga Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu (If My Favorite
Pop Idol Made it to the Budokan, I Would Die), written and illustrated
by Auri Hirao, will come to an end with the publication of
its next chapter. The news was confirmed in chapter 65 of the work,
published in the magazine Monthly Comic Ryuu of Tokuma
Shoten.
The series,
which began serialization in 2015, portrays the devotion of Eripiyo,
a passionate fan of the idol group Cham Jam, and his unwavering
love for the unpopular Maina Ichii. Despite spending all her money
supporting her idol, Eripiyo maintains her enthusiasm and promise: she would
die happy if Maina were to appear there Budoukan.
A comedy
of passion and devotion
The manga
stood out for its mix of humor and emotion, exploring the bond
between fan and idol from a tender and obsessive perspective. With more
than 1 million copies in circulation, the work was included in the
list of 20 best mangas for male readers from the ranking Kono
Manga ga Sugoi! in 2016. Tokuma Shoten he published
volume 11 in december 2024 and he will release the final
volume, number 12, the December 12, 2025.
Adaptations
and legacy
The success of the manga led to multiple adaptations. In may 2023 one was released live-action movie, and stop february 2026 the premiere of one is scheduled theatrical work which will be presented in Aichi and Tokio. Additionally, the series was published in English by Tokyopop, expanding its reach to international readers.
