The most broken and feared student in magical high school is about to expose the dirty laundry of his bloodline. The main trailer for The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) has been released for his new film project titled THE MOVIE -Yotsuba Succession Arc-. This promotional trailer not only lets us see the brutal quality of animation that awaits us, but also officially confirms its arrival in theaters in Japan for May 8, 2026.

To ensure that the high-level magical combats look spectacular on the big screen, the production committee left the project back in the hands of the Eight Bit studio. The director's chair is occupied by Jimmy Stone, who already knows perfectly how to handle the complex magic system of the franchise and the stoic personality of the protagonist. With the backing of Aniplex and much of the technical team that worked on the previous seasons of the anime, this film promises to adapt with all the political tension and family drama the dark secrets that surround the most dangerous clan in this universe.

About The Irregular at Magic High School

Born from the successful light novels written by Tsutomu Sato, this franchise immerses us in a society where magic is not a fairy tale, but a highly systematized war technology. The story closely follows siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, who at first glance seem like students with very uneven skill levels. However, behind that façade of "irregular", Tatsuya hides a lethal destructive power and combat skills that make him a true killing machine.

This new movie-like arc focuses squarely on the mysterious Yotsuba family, one of the most influential and bloodthirsty wizarding clans in the world. The plot drags us into the conspiratorial process of choosing the next leader of the family, which will force the Shiba brothers to deal with the pressures of their relatives, unleash hidden powers and survive the deadly confrontations that are unleashed when the absolute power of the succession is at stake.
