The manga industry is
preparing to say goodbye to another of its most endearing school stories.
Through an official announcement by the talented illustrator Musshu,
it was confirmed that the original manga Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku (known
in English as Flower and Asura) will publish its anticipated final
chapter in the next August issue of Ultra Jump magazine,
definitively closing this moving stage that conquered many fans of the school
drama.
For those who haven't given this authentic
literary gem a chance, the story is the product of the brilliant mind of Ayano
Takeda, the same creator behind the colossal and award-winning Sound!
Euphonium. The plot puts us in the shoes of Hana Haruyama, an innocent girl
from a small island who has a tremendous passion for reading stories aloud to
local children. Her life takes a turn of one hundred and eighty degrees when
she enters high school, where she ends up joining the competitive broadcasting
club after being recruited by its eccentric president, Mizuki Usurai, beginning
a tense but beautiful path to national competitions.
This outcome comes at a fairly mature time for
the franchise. After having begun its serialization in the magazine
in June 2021 and with ten compilation volumes already published by the Shueisha publishing
house, the work managed to consolidate its global popularity thanks to the
beautiful animated adaptation of twelve episodes that
the Bind studio gave us at the beginning of 2025. Knowing that
the anime left the community wanting to know more about the
development of these endearing characters, loyal fans will now have to go to
the printed pages to discover how Hana and her inseparable friends' intense
journey of self-discovery really culminates.
