The wait to see the seventh part of this
legendary franchise in motion has been eternal, and now we
finally understand the tremendous martyrdom that the animation team is
experiencing. Noriko Dohi, the production company in charge of the
highly anticipated anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run,
decided to speak openly about the production committee's controversial
decision to air the series in separate parts, revealing that adapting this
masterpiece is proving to be a monumental challenge for the entire staff.
If you've ever tried to draw the anatomy of a
horse in motion, you know perfectly well that it's a real nightmare. During a
recent interview, Dohi confessed that capturing the frenetic realism of
equestrian racing requires an absurd amount of work. Added to the immense
length of the original manga created by Hirohiko Araki, the
studio realized that forcing its animators to produce the entire story in a row
would end up destroying them physically. For this very reason, the animated
adaptation was intentionally fragmented into multiple blocks, allowing
the team to breathe and maintain a very high standard of quality without dying
in the attempt.
The production company also took the
opportunity to calm the community's anxiety regarding the
controversial launch format. He explained that the lengthy introductory episode
known as 1st STAGE, released in March 2026, was strategically
designed as an appetizer to hook audiences and demonstrate the visual tone of
this new season. Fortunately, the content drought is about to end, as stages
two and three, which will add up to a total of eleven episodes, will begin to
air weekly starting this coming September 25. Dohi promised that they will
reveal more information about future installments as the schedule progresses,
comparing this heavy creative process to a real drag race.
