The
universe of the most famous pirates in history has just dropped a bomb that
will reverberate in all seas. During the closing of the One Piece Day '26
event, the franchise confirmed that not one, but two new animated films are
coming to the big screen. The first of them will adapt one of the most
legendary and darkest moments of the entire original manga, while
the second will celebrate thirty years of television broadcasting in style.
The first
big surprise is called ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY and its
theatrical release is scheduled for the summer of 2027. This film will bring to
animation the famous God Valley Incident, a titanic clash that occurred 38
years before the main story where the Rocks Pirates, Roger's Pirates, the Navy
and the World Nobles measured forces on an island that was wiped off the map.
The date is no coincidence, as it will coincide exactly with the 30th
anniversary of the debut of the manga that began serialization in July 1997.
On the
other hand, the second installment will be titled ONE PIECE FILM BAAD and
will hit theaters in 2029 to commemorate three decades of the animated
television adaptation that was originally released in October
1999. Although details of the plot of this second film have not yet been
revealed, the creator Eiichiro Oda himself was in charge of
personally drawing the title logo. Both productions become the first feature
films in the franchise since the runaway box office success of ONE
PIECE FILM RED in 2022.
