For all those who have suffered from the new Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), please allow me to express my deepest sympathy.
Also, to all the medical staff and related people who are still working on it, I would like to extend my full gratitude and respect.
I feel very bad for making them wait longer for the premiere of our new movie due to this situation, even I know that they have waited for almost 8 years for this ...
I will do my best in this regard leaning on you, even when we face a severe situation in the world.
Thank you for your continued support.
The feature film was scheduled to premiere on June 27 in theaters in Japan, but in response to the government's instructions to combat the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country, the production team decided to postpone it.
Studio Khara already released the first 10 minutes and 40 seconds of the feature film last July. The “Japan Expo” event in Paris broadcast this same excerpt during a presentation titled “Yoko Takahashi x Evangelion”. Subsequently, this excerpt was featured at the “Anime Expo” event in Los Angeles, following an Evangelion broadcast: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, and in Shangha during a franchise event.
In March 2019, Studio Khara stated that voice recordings for the film had started and voice actress Megumi Ogata confirmed in February that they had already ended.
The film is the latest installment of the Shin Evangelion tetralogy, the first three of which were released in 2007, 2009 and 2012, respectively. Netflix recently acquired the distribution license for the original series Neon Genesis Evangelion and added both anime and movies Shin Seiki Evangelion Gekijōban: Death & Rebirth - Shi to Shinsei and Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion in June.
