Amazon's description of volume 13 of Yōko Tamotsu's Mayonaka no Occult Kōmuin manga lists that the manga is entering its final arc with the volume and is slated to launch on May 23.

Tamotsu launched the manga in Kadokawa Publishing's Monthly Asuka magazine in May 2015, and is also published on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype website. The publisher published the manga's twelfth volume with an OVA on November 22.

The manga also inspired a novel by Masumi Suzuki that the Kadokawa Horror Bunko label released in July 2018.

The manga inspired a television anime series that premiered in April 2019. Crunchyroll aired the series as it aired in Japan. It also aired episodes 13-15 of the series in September. The episodes were distributed on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in Japan in October after airing on Hikari TV in September.

Synopsis
The story follows Arata Miyako, a new government worker assigned to the "Department of Regional Night Relations" of the Shinjuku Ward Office. Each of the twenty-three Tokyo offices has one of those departments, which were established to resolve occult-related and paranormal events. Arata is able to understand non-human language that no one else understands, and he meets a yōkai (supernatural entity) in Shinjuku Gyoen Park who calls him Abe no Seimei, named after a historical Japanese occultist and soothsayer.
