Acclaimed songwriter Yoko Kanno has started a project with the Cowboy Bebop anime group Seatbelts titled "Session Starducks," which aims to connect people around the world through music, all from the comfort of their homes.

His first project was to recreate the opening theme song for the Macross Frontier anime titled “Lion,” joining the recordings of each instrument separately.
The second project recreates Cowboy Bebop's opening track, titled “Tank!” The group uploaded a video to Twitter of this performance.

The previous two videos were uploaded by fellow Yoko Kanno drummer Mataro Misawa. For its part, the Session Starducks project is currently recruiting musicians for a variety of other parts of the songs “Lion” and “Tank!”. They especially encourage musicians living outside of Japan.

The project describes itself as follows:

Session Starducks is directed by Captain Duckling. The session will extend beyond time and space, as we all contribute to it. Only the good guys who stay home can participate. With Seatbelts as our background music, isn't that the perfect roar of a lion? From now on, guys who are not good at Japanese, please use a translator (lol).

The Seatbelts group is also offering private classes and conversations with "people who stay home like good citizens." For their part, those interested can apply for the group through Yoko Kanno's personal website.

Writer and executive producer Jeff Pinkner mentioned during an interview about the production of Netflix's Cowboy Bebop live-action series, that the project “will expose the world of Cowboy Bebop to a large number of people, through amazing work from Yoko Kanno. "
