In a recent interview by Crunchyroll with horror manga author Junji Ito, new details about the anime adaptation of the Uzumaki manga were revealed.

During the interview, Ito mentioned his past when he was barely a mangaka wannabe, spending his days working as a dentist's assistant, which clearly inspired his art considering how many of his stories feature terrifying characters with sharp, detailed teeth. In addition to this, Junji also displays a personality that one would not expect from the horror master, as his calm demeanor and unresponsive personality demonstrate that a book cannot be judged by its cover.

Regarding the next premiere of the anime adaptation of the Uzumaki manga, Junji Ito confirmed during this interview that the script has been completed and that he already had the opportunity to approve it. He also noted that the adaptation will make some changes to the original work, with some characters dying soon in the play now having a more extensive and important role. In itself, the work Uzumaki had some central characters but it also had an anthological sequence, showing various stories starring other characters.

Like many other stories created by Junji Ito, Uzumaki centers on a mundane scene infected by supernatural force that might be difficult for new fans to understand. The original promotional video for this adaptation produced by Production I.G. It was globally praised for its black and white styling and definitely keeps fans looking forward to seeing this new adaptation.
