Although the most recent collaboration between the Gundam franchise and the Japan Racing Association (JRA) might not be the most exciting, it does include the participation of four series: Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway Flash.
The collaborative project is titled “Kijou Senshi Gundam JRA Derby,” and launched its official website last Monday, which has been updated with new features in anticipation of Derby Day, May 31.
To date, the website includes an interactive chat with Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam series character Haman in a tool titled "Haman’s Room." There, the character teaches the user about horse racing through a chat bot.
The site also has special videos narrated by the protagonists of the Gundam franchise. The first video, released on Monday, includes a narration by Kamille (played by Nobuo Tobita) from the Zeta Gundam series, while the second video, released on Thursday, includes a narration by Banagher (played by Kouki Uchiyama) from the Unicorn series. . A third video narrated by Hathaway Noa (played by Kensho Ono) from the Hathaway’s Flash series will be released on May 18.
Finally, the iconic antagonist Char Aznable will appear on the JRA's official YouTube channel on May 18. Its voice actor, Shuuichi Ikeda, will read some character lines from the character, which will be used during the event on May 31, as well as on the online gambling site.
