Chinese multinational Tencent Holdings Limited announced a heavy investment in Japanese video game developer Marvelous Inc., with a total of 7 billion yen (about $ 65 million), acquiring 20% of the company.

Marvelous Inc. plans to use this investment to develop new installments based on its existing franchises in the next three years. These franchises include Ikki Tousen Extra Burst, Dead or School, Senran Kagura, God Eater 3, Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist, among others.

Market analyst Hideki Yasuda commented: "The reason for Tencent's huge investment is precisely to learn how to create video games for the Japanese, one of the biggest frontiers for China's launches in the market."

The investment represents incredible support for Marvelous Inc., given the global economic uncertainty about launching securities to the western market, with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
