The movie Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu releases a manga adaptation

The first chapter of the manga adaptation of the original film Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu was published on the Comic Newtype website of the Kadokawa publishing house.


Artists Kyousuke Kuromaru are in charge of illustrating the manga and the first compilation volume will be released on June 10.

Furthermore, the film was scheduled to be released in Japan on June 5, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, and later the staff decided to release it globally through the Netflix platform on 18 of June.

Cast of voices

  • Mirai Shida (Arrietty in Karigurashi no Arrietty, Kayo Horikoshi in Kaze Tachinu, Melissa Shield in Boku no Hero Academia the Movie: Futari no Hero) plays Miyo Sasaki and Tarou.
  • Natsuki Hanae (Tanjirou Kamado in Kimetsu no Yaiba, Reita Toritsuka in Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan, Taichi Yagami in Digimon Adventure tri.) Plays Kento Hinode.
  • Koichi Yamadera as the shop cat.
  • Hiroaki Ogi as Kusugi-sensei.

Production team

  • Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Aria the Animation, Princess Tutu) and Tomotaka Shibayama (Ao no Exorcist) are in charge of directing the feature film at Studio Colorido.
  • Mari Okada (Sayonara no Asa or Yakusoku no Hana or Kazarō, Anohana) is writing the scripts.



Synopsis of Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu

The original “find yourself” story takes place in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture and centers on Miyo “Muge” Sasaki. She is a very peculiar high school sophomore who is in love with her partner Kento Hinode. Muge constantly follows him everywhere but he doesn't seem to notice her.

But she has a secret that she cannot tell anyone, although even with this she continues her attempts. Later, Muge finds a magic mask that allows him to transform into a cat named Tarou. Magic allows him to get closer to Kento, which he always wanted, but eventually it will be increasingly difficult to return to being human ...
