The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department reported the arrest of a middle-aged man from Kyoto Prefecture on the charges of threat and obstruction, specifically for being the prime suspect behind death threats sent to director and entertainer Tatsuki. Additionally, the police will begin interrogations to investigate whether this same person was behind the threats sent to other creators and voice actors in recent months.

According to investigators, during the month of April a man posted a message on an Internet forum, alleging that he would murder Tatsuki with a knife. In his publication, the same user cited the fire started in the Kyoto Animation studios. For their part, it was earlier this month that Tatsuki and other members of the anime industry reported that they were being intimidated through social media and that they had filed a formal complaint with the police.

Additionally, voice actress Yui Ishikawa (Kyururu in Kemono Friends, Mikasa Ackerman in Shingeki no Kyojin) also filed a complaint with the police due to threats she began receiving since April.
