The Caligula Effect game celebrates its fourth anniversary

Through its business blog, the FuRyu company published a special illustration to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the launch in Japan of the role-playing game developed by Aquria, The Caligula Effect.

The special illustration for the fourth anniversary was done by the game's character designer, Oguchi. A message accompanies the illustration that the developers are working very hard to finally "show what's on the other side."

Although this does not represent the release of a new game, FuRyu announced the release of a new music album. Thanks to fan requests, it will include three songs that were added in the remake, The Caligula Effect: Overdose. Moreover, it will include songs performed by Lucid (voiced by Chiharu Sawashiro), Stork (voiced by Shugo Nakamura) and Kuchinashi (voiced by Himika Akaneya).


Additionally, an adaptation to a play, which will be the first in the franchise, was also announced. This work will be presented in Japan from January 2021 and will be based on the game The Caligula Effect: Overdose. Finally, producer Takuya Yamanaka reiterated that the developers are working very hard to, on the fifth anniversary, surprise all fans.


The original game was released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita console on June 23, 2016. It was followed by a release in North America and Europe in May 2017. Subsequently, the remake was released in Japan in May 2018 for the PlayStation 4 console. , and then released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC consoles in March 2019.
