World End Heroes manga is canceled

In the July issue of Kodansha publisher Shonen Magazine Edge, it was revealed that because Square Enix announced on May 28 that the World End Heroes smartphone game would end its service, the manga adaptation has been canceled.

The manga was slated to begin publication in Shonen Magazine Edge and Bessatsu Friend, both from Kodansha, earlier this summer.

In fact, the publisher had started a contest in December 2019 in which the applicants to become the author of this manga had to upload a two-page manuscript based on a specific scenario and characters, with a deadline of January 13. The results were no longer disclosed.

For its part, the game was released in Japan in November 2018. In the role-playing game, players create and train heroes. As they strengthen their bonds with their heroes, players will also uncover mysteries related to the world.
