The Netflix platform published a special video starring Beastars manga author Paru Itagaki. In the video, Itagaki mentions that the second season of the anime adaptation is already in production, and confirmed again that its premiere is scheduled for the year 2021.
For her part, Itagaki began publishing the manga in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in September 2016. The publisher published the twentieth compilation volume on July 8. The first season premiered on Netflix in Japan in October 2019, and also on the Fuji TV channel's [+ Ultra] programming block a day later.
