The final chapter of the manga written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Yasuhito Nogi, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Gaiden: Astral Buddy was published in this year's ninth edition of Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine by Kadokawa.

The magazine had already announced in June that the manga would climax this month. For his part, Nogi began publishing the spin-off manga in Kadokawa publisher's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in April 2017. The publisher published the third compilation volume in July 2019 and will publish the fourth in October this year.

It is worth mentioning that this is a spin-off manga derived from the manga written and illustrated by Motoi Fukuyama, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, which is inspiring the third season of his anime adaptation, now broadcast.
