On the official site for the animated adaptation of the recital written by Bun-O Fujisawa, Mars Red, the distribution information for the project's Blu-ray / DVD compilation packages was revealed. This information also confirmed that the series will have a total of thirteen episodes.
- Package 1 (episodes 1 to 6) - June 2, 2021.
- Package 2 (episodes 7 to 13) - August 25, 2021.
The series has its premiere scheduled for April 5 in Japan, while the Funimation platform will be responsible for its distribution in the West. On the other hand, the first theatrical production based on the Mars Red writing was presented in 2013, followed by new productions in 2015 and 2017. A manga adaptation has been in publication by Kemuri Karakara since January 2020, in Mag Garden publisher's Monthly Comic Garden magazine.
Mars Red Synopsis
The story takes place in 1923, and in a period when vampires exist. But now, the number of vampires has increased and the source of blood called Ascra appeared in the world. The Japanese government, consequently, creates "Code Zero", an army unit that will face the rampaging vampires. And what is better at fighting vampires than other vampires?
Created by Lieutenant General Nakajima, the unit has been used to obtain war information, but has recently been reassigned to combat the vampire crisis. It will be the responsibility of the "Code Zero" unit and the S-class vampire, Deffrot, to investigate the strange increase in vampires before society collapses.
