In addition to directing, loundraw also did the original character designs, and Flat Studio, the studio he established in 2019, is animating the project. Hirotaka Adachi, better known as novelist Otsuichi (Stare film, Goth, Calling You, Zoo), wrote the scripts, and internationally renowned pianist Akira Kosemura and others are contributing to the soundtrack. Flagship Line is planning and producing the project, and Avex Pictures is distributing it.
The short is part of Project Common, a multimedia initiative "to express the true loundraw". The illustrator said last summer: “Unchangeable at any time, I want to find my firm self. This project is a challenge to find the true ‘loundraw’ with me and with everyone “. The project website included the text in English “real or fake? The way he thinks, the way he draws. They all become 'one' ".
The story of the short was developed from a single illustration that Loundraw had drawn. Tomoya, Aoi, and Ryou are high school students who met online. An urban legend tells of a "summer ghost", a spiritual girl who appears when fireworks are lit. Tomoya cannot live the life he envisioned for himself. Aoi can't find her place in the world. Ryou has the future of her once bright suddenly pushed away. Everyone has their own reason for having to meet the ghost of summer. On a summer night where life and death intersect, where will each of your emotions take you?
