Sony subsidiary Aniplex; his animation studio CloverWorks; Production I.G's sister company, WIT Studio; and publisher Shueisha announced that they have teamed up to establish a new company called JOEN. The company's focus is primarily planning and producing anime television series, anime movies, and short clips.

The company's goal is to direct production to "the best production lines and creators" for both CloverWorks and WIT Studio, rather than direct the process through a single company. The new company will also aim to provide a better business model for both studios, allowing profits to be more effectively distributed among "staff, creators and those involved in the animation studio." The company also plans to collaborate with studios other than CloverWorks and WIT Studio. The statement writes:

  • CloverWorks and WIT Studio will work together to make the most of their strengths throughout the production process, from the planning phases to the final product. Since we will be involved in every step of the creative process, we can guarantee that the final product will be of high quality and will be produced with the values of the recipient company in mind.
  •

  • In addition to our collaboration with CloverWorks and WIT Studio, we also intend to use the industry connections they provide us to expand our reach and collaborate with various studios, producers, and creators to build a framework that allows us to prioritize those involved in the production process.
  •

  • Instead of passing all the processes through a single company, we will try to adapt the best production lines and creators to each project. In addition, we will also provide help through financial support, creating an environment for these projects to thrive, and much more

CloverWorks producer Yuuichi Fukushima and WIT Studio producer Tetsuya Nakatake are the representative directors for JOEN. The company has an initial capital investment of 100 million yen (over 783 thousand US dollars). Both companies are currently working on an anime adaptation of SPY x FAMILY together, while CloverWorks recently produced Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling) and Akebi-chan no Sailor fuku (Akebi's Sailor Uniform); while WIT Studio recently produced Ousama Ranking (Ranking of Kings) and Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.
