GRIDMAN UNIVERSE Crossover Movie Reveals 2023 Premiere

A new promotional image for the feature film GRIDMAN UNIVERSE was released on the official site for the upcoming joint project of the SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON franchises , confirming that the premiere is scheduled for the year 2023 in theaters in Japan. The visual was made by Yuta Hibiki , who is in charge of character design.

The SSSS.DYNAZENON series aired in Japan during the Spring-2021 season (April-June) , with twelve episodes and with Funimation in charge of its distribution in the West and being a spiritual sequel to the original SSSS.GRIDMAN anime , which is based on a tokusatsu series (a name that refers to any Japanese live-action series that makes absurd use of special effects) aired between 1993 and 1994. The series was produced by a collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions and Trigger studios .

SSSS.GRIDMAN Synopsis

Yuuta Hibiki wakes up in Rikka Takarada's room and realizes two things: he has no memories and he can hear a mysterious voice calling his name from a nearby room. Upon further inspection, she finds a robot - who introduces himself as the hyper-agent Gridman - behind an old computer screen. To Yuuta's surprise, Rikka can't hear Gridman, nor can she see the ominous monsters looming over a thick fog that shrouds the city outside.

Another giant monster materializes in the city and proceeds to wreak havoc. Amidst the confusion, Yuuta is drawn back to the old computer and merges with Gridman. Suddenly, he appears in the middle of the battle and is forced to fight the monster. Together with Rikka and his partner Shou Utsumi, Yuuta forms the "Gridman Alliance" to defeat the monsters plaguing the city and find the one responsible for his appearance.
