The Japanese medium Comic Natalie interviewed the authors Hajime Isayama ( Shingeki no Kyojin ) and Makoto Yukimura ( Vinland Saga ), who revealed a series of relevant data about their works. However, one of the most relevant points was the fact that Yukimura commented on whether the end of the Vinland Saga manga is near, and if he already has any path planned.
- It has already been 17 years since the serialization of Vinland Saga began. If you look back on your life as a manga artist until now, what is your current state of mind, Yukimura-sensei?
- I've been a cartoonist for almost 25 years, and all I want now is for my children to grow up safe and sound, and draw Vinland Saga well until the last episode. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have a completely digital environment and I hope to take advantage of it to continue drawing manga. If you change the effort of putting screen tones for painting in color, I think it could be done in full color. I would like to try this kind of work.
- What fans are most interested in is the future story of the Vinland Saga, but is there already a path planned to finish it?
- In fact, there is no longer much material to cut from. We're not that far from the last chapter. The planned route was drawn up before the series began, but the details are different. There are many characters that did not appear in the initial assumptions. But the details have been drawn up flexibly according to the situation. Recently it became clear to me that it is better to leave loose ends than solid facts.
Makoto Yukimura began publishing the manga in Kodansha 's Weekly Shonen Magazine in April 2005, and later moved it to Monthly Afternoon magazine in December 2005. The work inspired a twenty-four-episode anime adaptation produced by WIT Studio . , directed by Shuuhei Yabuta and scripts written by Hiroshi Seko and Kenta Ihara , released in July 2019. A second season is in production, now by MAPPA studios , and is scheduled to premiere in January of 2023 in Japan.
Vinland Saga Synopsis
Thorfinn, son of one of the Vikings' greatest warriors, is among the best fighters in the merry band of mercenaries led by the cunning Askeladd.
