Renowned director Makoto Shinkai posted an update on Twitter revealing that production work on his upcoming film, Suzume no Tojimari ( Suzume's Door-Locking ), has ended and the film is set to open in theaters in Japan on November 11. . The director posted a photo of his editing setup, showing off the complex Premiere Pro timeline that makes up Suzume's backbone.
It was also revealed yesterday that Suzume's opening 12 minutes will air on Japanese television on October 28 during the Kimi no Na wa ( Your Name ) rebroadcast on Nippon TV 's Friday movie block . The footage will be shown in the later half of the show following the completion of the Kimi no Na wa main story .
In December 2020, Makoto Shinkai had already commented that he began writing the script for the project when the Japanese government declared the first state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
