Now, the wait is finally over, as What's on Netflix officially reported that Netflix is developing an anime adaptation of the franchise . The spin-off's official title is Stranger Things Tokyo , and it will also take place in the 1980s like its predecessor. No further details about the series are known yet. However, according to the official tagline, the series follows an encounter with the Upside Down that turns into a grand adventure for the video game-loving twin brothers living in suburban 1980s Tokyo.
Matt Duffer briefly spoke about the spin-off when he and his brother Ross were guests on the Happy Sad Confused podcast . The upcoming series will be " 1,000% different ," belying rumors that the spin-off will follow or feature any of the current characters from the Stranger Things universe . However, audiences can expect the story to “ share connective tissue ” with the original series through the Duffer brothers' unique narrative approach, drawing inspiration from classic 1980s media and culture.The anime will reportedly be around six hours long (equivalent to a twelve-episode series) and has been officially established as the first Stranger Things spin-off.
Sinopsis of Stranger Things
Stranger Things is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, during the 1980s.
