On the official site for the Australian Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts , it was reported that the second season of the anime Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu ( How Not to Summon a Demon Lord ) received the classification " RC ”, which translates as “ Classification Rejected ”. This means that the series will not be able to be broadcast legally in Australia, nor will the physical packages be sold .
It should be noted that the first season of the anime received the classification " M15+ ", that is, it was classified only for young people over fifteen years of age. In this classification we could see that the Australian authorities considered that the series had problems regarding the contents of "Sex" , a moderate impact on the themes of " Violence " and " Nudity ", and a medium impact on the matter of " Language ". Apparently the second season was too much for the ratings handlers , since they didn't accept the distribution.
It should be noted that in many other countries this second season achieved a PG-13 rating , that is, recommended for adolescents over thirteen years of age. However, previous articles had already set the precedent that in Australia they have much more rigorous criteria regarding the issues of nudity and sexuality.
Notable comments in this regard included:
- « Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland are hell for otakus. These countries are so bad nowadays when it comes to anime censorship that EVEN IN NORTH KOREA AND CUBA/VENEZUELA, this anime is approved ."
- « Sooner or later anime will be banned more and more. Australians voted for it because of the people they put in office. So it's up to them to clean it up. If not, they will lose more anime and I won't be sad when they do ."
- « The classification authorities in this country have always been inconsistent. For every good decision like “Aliens Vs. Predator” in 2010 or “Interspecies Reviewers”, we have a “Left 4 Dead 2” or this. There are real reasons why people here matter and hack a lot of media. It is our hobby ».
- « This series is crap, but it is still sad that it was banned in Australia ».
- « The “Kangaroo Hell” jokes are still a reality ».
- « I expected no less from the country that lost the war against the emu. Yes, Australia lost a war against some birds ».
- « Australia even censors The Simpsons and other American shows. In Australia it is built differently ».
- « Well, the second season was lousy. I guess that's a good thing ."
- « I never liked that anime, but it is wrong to ban it. I hate the Australian government enough already and now they have added more to hate '.
