Love Live! Nijigasaki announces three new films

On the official site for the Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai has been announced to be producing three new animated films, with the first slated to open next year in Japan . The announcement was made during the screenings of the OVA “ Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai: Next Sky ," and it was reported that this new trilogy will be "something completely new."

The first season aired during the Fall-2020 season (October-December) and had a total of thirteen episodes, with the platforms Crunchyroll and Funimation in charge of its distribution in the West. This was followed by a thirteen-episode second season airing during the Spring-2022 (April-June) season . It should be noted that this animation project is based on the video game for smartphones Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS.

Buried within Nijigasaki High School's many clubs is the Idol Club. The club, while lacking in popularity, is definitely not lacking in potential. During their debut stage, they were able to capture a sizeable audience, along with the attention of their fellow members Ayumu Uehara and Yuu Takasaki. Delighted, the duo make their way to join the club; however, they are disappointed to learn that it has just been disbanded.

However, Ayumu doesn't think things should end there, so together with Yuu they begin to restore the school's idol club, hoping to recreate the performances that once dazzled them. Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai highlights the reformed idol club as they recruit the two former members of the club along with other newcomer girls. Taking the first step towards their dreams, how will these girls achieve stardom in the idol world?
