Jujutsu Kaisen: What caused the change in Geto?

0

The latest episode of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen left fans speechless by revealing the dark motives behind Suguru Geto 's surprising turn towards evil. While most of the Sorcerers have a clear understanding of the path they are following, Geto is highly delusional and seems to be caught at the crossroads between good and evil. Although no one doubts his powers and his love for his beloved fellow Wizards, he seems to have serious problems with those who are not. In fact, it was revealed in the fifth episode of the second season that Geto planned the mass murder of an entire town, taking the lives of 112 innocent people. This ruthless act was an unexpected blow to everyone, especially Satoru Gojo.

Gojo did not want to believe that Geto was actually responsible for these heinous crimes, but his use of the Curse Manipulation Technique confirmed his involvement, and Geto himself confessed to Nobara about his actions. But what made a trustworthy person like Geto go to such extremes, and what was he trying to achieve with all this?

He had lived an enviable life with his fellow Wizards and should have been proud to save humanity from the evil Curses, but instead, he chose a dark path, betraying everything he once believed in. As it turns out, Suguru Geto never really enjoyed fighting; none of the Sorcerers did, but Geto blamed the non-Sorcerers for the rise of the Curses and deemed it useless to fight for them. He always looked down on non-Sorcerers and called them "monkeys". It's true that non-Warlocks were the reason the Curses were born in the first place. As explained in the episode, they released more Cursed Energy compared to Sorcerers due to their inability to control that energy.Swayed by this fact, Suguru Geto wished to eliminate all non-Sorcerers from the world and build a world where only Sorcerers existed. Furthermore, he believed that being a Sorcerer was the next step in human evolution and that humans would eventually learn to control their Curse Energy for fear of being wiped out.

However, this hatred of non-Sorcerers was not always on his mind. Geto's thoughts of superiority towards normal humans intensified after a tragic incident with Riko Amanai. He had always considered Sorcerers his true family and never wanted to see them sacrificed for non-Sorcerers. However, Riko Amanai's death came as a great shock to Geto, and he blamed non-shamans for his disappearance. With this, his beliefs were strengthened, and he took the first step in creating his ideal world by killing 112 people without showing any remorse.

During Riko Amanai's rescue from the Time Vessel Association, Geto witnessed the cruelty of non-Sorcerers who cheered and celebrated her death. At that time, Geto avoided killing them, as he still believed that there must be a reason to kill. However, in episode 5 of the second season, he joined the same organization as its leader and avenged Riko's death by killing its members and freeing the two Sorcerer girls from their captivity.

Suguru Geto's transformation from a loyal and respectable Sorcerer to a cruel and ruthless villain has left fans wondering how he could have gotten this far on his dark path and what the future holds for this character. With this shocking revelation, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen has reached new heights of excitement and suspense, leaving viewers eager to find out how this shocking story will unfold.
