The artificial intelligence (AI) company Pika Labs has begun the deployment of its most recent model, Pika 1.0, which claims to have the ability to convert text sequences into animated clips of any style, even Japanese anime. The news has caused a sensation on social networks after the company shared a demonstration video that left Internet users around the world amazed.

Pika Labs, originating from Stanford University's artificial intelligence laboratory, has been a pioneer in this field. Initially, they offered an early version of their model through Discord. The recent version, Pika 1.0, arises after a successful investment round of $55 million and is available for the first time through a web platform.

The company has expressed its goal of “allowing everyone to be directors of their own stories and bringing out the creator in all of us.” This suggests that the model has advanced capabilities of in-place editing, generating random objects within a scene, something that was only possible in image artificial intelligence, as revealed by OpenAI with DALL-E 2.

The highlight of Pika 1.0 is its promise to generate videos as advanced as AI-generated illustrations. This allows users to turn any idea into a short film. Whether it's transforming a photo into a cartoon or adding a festive touch to a video of a loved one, the real test is in its actual use. Pika 1.0's ability to take creativity to new heights has generated palpable excitement in the online community.

  • «If we have reached this point, animators who have worked at the bottom of the food chain in the anime industry should think twice about their profession».

  • «Even if the character design isn't perfectly consistent, it's not like anyone will notice if they don't pay enough attention to it, and I think it'll look amazing once is presented with more stable animations».

  • «I thought it would be impossible to generate animation sequences with a simple instruction, but now I am more and more surprised».

  • «That is a tremendous evolution of AI in just a few years».

  • «Looks like we've started the countdown for AI mass animations».

  • «The quality seems acceptable to me, but the general impression I have is that they are mostly static segments, as if it were just an image gallery».

  • «It's impressive that it was created entirely by an AI, but its quality is still poor. Well, it's impressive what has been achieved since Stable Diffusion was released a few years ago. I can't imagine what will happen in the next five years».

  • «In the end, the design changed so much that it was already another character».

  • «I think it's good for presenting promotional videos, but the possibility of creating a short film with this is still far away».

  • «It looks like one of those scary videos that are shared on comment forums, if you pay attention you may notice some disturbing details in the designs ».
