Kadokawa announced
that it will expand the free-to-use license for the anime franchise “Jashin-chan Dropkick (Dropkick
on My Devil!)” on YouTube. Until this announcement, the license only
covered the third season of the series, but now the entire franchise is
included.
This means that segments from the first to third seasons,
with a maximum duration of up to ten minutes per episode, can be shared on
YouTube. However, the OVA “)”, which will be released on December 27
in Japan, can be used in its entirety.Dropkick on My Devil!!: End of Century
Edition (Jashin-chan Dropkick “Seikimatsu-hen”
If the terms of use are respected, the segments may even
be monetized within the platforms YouTube, Niconico, among others, either
for summary, explanatory purposes, or even just for fun.
Also, in an unusual initiative, the OVA “Jashin-chan
Dropkick “Seikimatsu-hen” (Dropkick on My Devil!!: End of Century
Edition)” will be sold online prior to its television premiere in Japan.
Upon purchase, the user will be able to begin sharing “derivative
works” (i.e. screenshots of the episode, memes, etc.) just after the television broadcast begins.
The production explained this decision on Twitter: «In
this way, work will also be encouraged by taking advantage of the power of
those who broadcast live without screen time and those who obtain advertising
income through illegal uploads. The production committee of
“Jashin-chan Dropkick” doesn't care how they get the video. However, follow the
sales platform's rules on how to purchase the series and read the rules on the
extent to which you can use it in your videos", denoting that all
this is an effort to cover everything possible advertising.
