During
a special broadcast on Saturday, production company Aniplex revealed
a series of news about the long-awaited anime adaptation of Silent
Witch, based on the light novels by Matsuri Isora and Nanna
Fujimi. Among the most prominent announcements are the first three
minutes of the anime, a new promotional illustration, information about the
opening theme, and the addition of a new character to the cast.
Claudia,
the Walking Library of Serendia
The new
visual image shows Monica Everett, the protagonist of the story,
with her friends at Serendia Academy. In this context, Claudia,
a second-year student known for her vast knowledge, to the point of being
nicknamed a "walking library", is introduced. Coming from a
family recognized as a national treasure for its intellectual legacy, she will
be played by voice actress Ai Kayano.
An
opening by hitsujibungaku and details
The opening
track is titled "Feel" and will be
performed by the alternative rock band hitsujibungaku. The song
will be available on digital platforms in Japan from July 4. The
same group will also perform the closing theme, entitled "mild
days".
The anime
will premiere on July 4 at 12:00 p.m. (i.e., July 5 at
00:00 a.m. in Japan, corresponding to 5:00 p.m. in Spain),
through the Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV and BS11 channels.
It will also air on YTV and TV Aichi.
The
production is in the hands of Studio Gokumi. Takaomi
Kanasaki, known for his work on KonoSuba, serves as chief
director, screenwriter, script supervisor, and sound director. Yasuo
Iwamoto is leading the project, while Cona Nitanda is
in charge of character design. The music is composed by Cygames and Rina
Tayama.
A story
of magic without words... and a lot of shyness
The story
follows Monica Everett, the world's only sorceress who
masters voiceless magic. Although she is seen as a hero for having
faced the legendary black dragon, in reality, Monica is extremely shy, and
learned this technique only to avoid public speaking. Still, the Seven
Sages give him a secret mission: to protect the second
prince at the academy. Will he be able to keep his secret and overcome his fear
of interacting with others?
