Stories of
love entanglements between girls have a privileged place in the hearts of the
public, and this popular title is ready to face a new stage. To the excitement
of all those lovers of the yuri genre, the original
manga adaptation of the romantic comedy Watashi ga Koibito ni
Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Did Janakatta!? (affectionately known
as Watanare) published the final chapter of its first part,
immediately confirming the production of a direct sequel.
The first
part of the adaptation illustrated by mangaka Musshu, who was at
the helm of the project since its debut in May 2020, formally concluded on July
31. It was confirmed that the tenth compilation volume will be released for
sale in December of this year, while the eleventh and final volume will hit
stores in 2027. However, Renako's story will not stop there: illustrator Eru
Kudo announced that he will take over to draw the second part of the
manga, which will be titled Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan,
Muri Muri! Did Janakatta!? ~Second Season~ and is scheduled to debut
between January and February 2027.
Originally
born as a saga of light novels written by Teren Mikami and
illustrated by Eku Takushima, this little gem introduces us to
Renako Amaori, a withdrawn girl who seeks to reinvent herself in high school.
Everything takes a chaotic turn when he meets Mai Ouzuka, a popular millionaire
model who unexpectedly confesses her love to him. While Renako insists that
being best friends is the best option, Mai is determined to prove to him that
they are meant to be lovers, setting off a crazy dynamic of fake dating and
romantic rivalries. The tremendous success of this work was consolidated after
receiving its own animated adaptation for television in July
2025, followed by a special five-episode sequel earlier this year.
With the
arrival of a new illustrator to bring the next chapters of this chaotic yuri
comedy to life in 2027
