Starting
the season of premieres without finding the series you were waiting for so long
on your usual platform always leaves a strange taste. The anime adaptation of Seitokai
ni mo Ana wa Aru! (Even the Student Council Has Its Holes!) formally
kicked off its broadcast this weekend, but to the community's surprise, the
work is not part of Crunchyroll's simulcast catalog, ending up hosted on the
international OceanVeil service.
The lack of the title in the usual catalog generated an avalanche of speculation among users. As it is a school comedy full of spicy situations and racy jokes that in Japan has an uncensored version, several followers began to suggest that the content policies of the large distributors would have influenced the decision. However, there is no official position on the matter, so the absence could also be due to simple licensing agreements or commercial decisions by the production committee to cede emission rights to OceanVeil.
The project
is in charge of the Passione studio, with the direction of Naoyuki
Tatsuwa. The supervision and writing of the scripts was in the hands of Masahiro
Yokotani, while Ryo Imamura assumes the character design and the
main animation direction, accompanied by the music of Tomoki Kikuya. The
opening theme is provided by Sangatsu no Phantasia with the song Kaze no
Naka wa Hashirukkyanai!, while Akari Nanawo performs the closing theme
entitled Pi.
In the
voice cast, Shogo Sakata plays the protagonist Ume Mizunoe, accompanied
by Haruka Shiraishi as Hisako Kotobuki, Miyu Tomita in the role
of Komaro Michinoku, Hiyori Kono as Tan Otori, Shizuka Ishigami
giving life to Arisu Terui and Yumi Uchiyama in the role of Satomi
Hiratsuka.
About
Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru!
Seitokai
ni mo Ana wa Aru!
is a school comedy manga written and illustrated by Muchimaro, which
began serialization in the pages of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in
April 2022. The work has accumulated thirteen compilation volumes in the
Japanese market, positioning itself as a very popular proposal within the
four-panel format thanks to its peculiar visual style and its risqué jokes.
The story
follows Ume Mizunoe, a high school freshman whose dismal science grades put him
on the verge of repeating the grade. To save his academic record, Ume decides
to join the student council, where he encounters a group of extremely peculiar
members: a charismatic but ridiculously shy president, an imposing treasurer, a
cheeky boy and a small general affairs officer with the attitude of a stray
cat.
