In October 2022, the studios MAPPA shared the opening
sequence of the anime adaptation of the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto,
“Chainsaw Man“.
The sequence features the theme song “KICK BACK” performed by Kenshi
Yonezu, and immediately went viral for its references to the cinematographic
world, quality of animation and spectacular music.
And why are we talking about this opening sequence again
more than a year after its publication? Well, it turns out that it has
already reached 100 million accumulated views, quite an achievement within the
platform itself. The information was shared by the franchise's own
Twitter account, which thanked the fans for their support.
On the other hand, Fujimoto began publishing the manga Chainsaw
Man in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the
publisher Shueisha in
December 2018, finishing the first part in December 2020. The second part of
the work moved to the digital service Shonen Jump Plus, where
it has been published since July 2022. A twelve-episode anime adaptation aired
in , and a sequel film is currently in production.Fall-2022

And why don't we review some community comments regarding
this epic opening sequence, which was among the best of 2022:
- «Congratulations
on reaching 100 million views. It was one of the best openings of 2022 and
one of the best in history».
- «And
just like that, the opening of Chainsaw Man reached 100 million views.
Certainly the best opening in history».
- «Finally
100 million views. Congratulations to the staff and Yamashita for this
achievement».
- «So,
of all the impressive openings, this is the first one to reach 100 million
views on YouTube, and people still don't give Chainsaw Man credit?
Ridiculous».
- «Power
and Denji being the chaotic little brothers and Aki being tired of them is
something that will never go out of style».
- «Funny
fact that no one knew, Kenshi Yonezu actually wrote and composed the song.
He took the manga into account and wanted to accurately reflect that, and
I think he hit the nail on the head. This guy is pure talent».
- «This
song communicates the tone of the manga perfectly, both dark and comedic,
sinister but soft, chaotic but personal. MAPPA really did it right».
- «One
of the most iconic openings in history and the first Japanese song to be
certified gold in the United States».
- «I
will always say that this is the best anime opening ever. It deserves
those millions of views».
- «I
highly doubt that the opening of the future second season will even match
this one. I'm willing to be wrong, but it doesn't look like the entire
Chainsaw Man staff will be involved in the same way again.
