New Hollywood live-action news for the Naruto franchise ! The
Hollywood Reporter website revealed that filmmaker Destin Daniel
Cretton , who directed the Marvel Studios film “ Shang-Chi and
the Legend of the Ten Rings ,” will be in charge of directing
and adapting the story at Lionsgate . Cretton has Kishimoto's
blessing, something he was granted after a visit to Tokyo.
The filmmaker will also produce alongside Jeyun Munford
through their company, Hisako . The duo join Avi Arad, Ari
Arad and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions. The adaptation has been in
development with Lionsgate since late 2015 . With the director's
announcement, it is getting closer to reaching the big screen.
Kishimoto expressed his feelings
about Cretton's addition to live-action " When I found out
about Destin being attached, it was right after seeing one of his
highest-grossing action movies, and I thought he would be the perfect director
for Naruto ." The author added that after enjoying his other
films and understanding that his strength is creating solid dramas about
people, he became convinced that there was no other director. So upon meeting
Cretton, he realized that he was an open director, willing to accept his
contributions, so he became convinced that they could cooperate together in the
production process.
The original Naruto manga is extensive, with
700 chapters telling the entire story. The ninja adventure
series is compared to another epic, “ One Piece ,” whose
live-action television adaptation on Netflix was
successful enough to be renewed for a second season.
Naruto synopsis
Moments before Naruto Uzumaki's birth, a massive
demon known as the Kyuubi, the Nine-Tailed Fox, attacked Konohagakure, the
Hidden Leaf Village, and wreaked havoc. To put an end to the rampage caused by
the Kyuubi, the village leader, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life and
sealed the monstrous beast inside the newborn Naruto. Now, Naruto is a
hyperactive, knuckleheaded ninja still living in Konohagakure. Rejected by the
Kyuubi within him, Naruto struggles to find his place in the village, while his
burning desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure leads him not only to new
friends, but also to dangerous enemies.
