Netflix has confirmed the
participation of Joe Tracz , known for his work on “Percy
Jackson and the Olympians”, as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner for
the next live-action installment of “ One Piece ”. In this
adaptation of Eiichiro Oda 's popular manga , Tracz will
collaborate with Matt Owens , who returns as writer, executive
producer and co-showrunner of the first season.
Filming for the second season is scheduled to
begin in June, with the expectation of a premiere in 2025, according to sources
close to the production. This announcement marks Tracz's
return to Netflix, following his participation in “A Series Of Unfortunate
Events” and “Dash & Lily.”
Tracz expressed his excitement about joining the
“One Piece” team, highlighting the magnitude of the project and the talent of
the creative team. Owens, for his part, praised Tracz's
experience and passion, anticipating a fruitful collaboration.
The first season of “One Piece” enjoyed great
success, reaching high rankings on the streaming platform. With
a stellar cast led by Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz
Skylar, the series continues to captivate viewers with its exciting plot about
the search for the legendary One Piece treasure.
The first season of this action adventure spent eight weeks
in Netflix's global Top 10, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries and debuting in
the first position in 46 countries. It also earned a 95% rating on
Rotten Tomatoes with more than 10,000 ratings, one of the best scores ever for
a Netflix series.
