The
“ Hibike!” franchise Euphonium ”
is definitely one of the banners of the Kyoto Animation studios
, with a long history that dates back to 2015. However, since the third season
was recently released, the comment forums were quick to remember an absurd
criticism that was issued to the series during its inception.
In the first episodes of the second season, the protagonist
group launches into a training camp prior to the Kansai Competition. Since they
are staying somewhere else, there is a scene where the girls are about
to go in to take a bath, and viewers get a glimpse of Reina Kousaka, one of the
protagonists, undressing her.
However, one viewer did not agree with the simple
underwear that was drawn on the character , calling the Kyoto
Animation studios “virgins”:
- « Remembering
the second season of “Hibike! Euphonium. That incident where an otaku came
out of nowhere after watching the scene in question and wrote: “ Kyoto
Animation, you can draw unintentionally beautiful settings and characters,
but the design of the bras is deadly pathetic, which demonstrates the
virginity rate of your animators “ ».
And of course, this served to revive the debate before this
scene:
- « Aren't
they supposed to be high school girls at club activities? What did this
guy want to see then? »
- " We
girls don't usually wear cute, flashy underwear ."
- « Half
of the animators at Kyoto Animation are women. "If they decided to
make elaborate bra designs, they would double the time it takes to animate
them ."
- « This
is what girls' women's underwear looks like. On the other hand, it is
common to wear this type of simple clothing .
- " The
quality is quite high, surely this was the work of a female animator ."
- « Reminds
me of Takina's reviews in Lycoris Recoil. No, Reina-chan does not need to
wear elaborate clothing to stand out .
- « In
fact, it's not that animators are virgins. It is wrong to think that girls
are always wearing sexy underwear. The funny thing then is that the
virgins are the ones who complain about that .
