Kimetsu no Yaiba confirms trilogy of films

Following the final episode, a trilogy of films adapting the “ Infinite Fortress Arc ” from the “ Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ” franchise was confirmed to be in production. At the same time, Crunchyroll announced that it has acquired the rights and will premiere this film series in the West (hopefully, alongside its Japanese releases).

It is worth mentioning that, previously, leaks had assured that this trilogy would adapt everything that remains of the manga. However, the project is officially titled as “ Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc ”, which involves a total of 44 chapters of the manga, but leaves out the “Countdown to Dawn Arc” , which encompasses 22 final chapters.

In the end, we'll have to wait until the first film is released to do the math and see if the project covers the final arc or not. And speaking of which, no scheduled release date was revealed, not even an approximate one.

On the other hand, Koyoharu Gotouge published the original manga through Shueisha 's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between February 2016 and May 2020, compiling the work into a total of twenty-three volumes. The anime adaptation produced by Ufotable studios has aired a total of four seasons since the first in Spring 2019 (April-June) , totaling 63 episodes so far, as well as three films (one canonical and two compilations).

Synopsis General of Kimetsu no Yaiba

Tanjirou Kamado lives with his impoverished family on a remote mountain. As the eldest brother, he has taken on the responsibility of providing for his family following the death of his father. On a cold winter's day, he goes down to the local village to sell charcoal. As night falls, he is forced to spend the night in the home of a curious man who warns him of strange creatures that roam the night: malevolent demons that crave human flesh.

When he finally arrives home, Tanjirou's worst nightmare has come true. His entire family has been brutally slaughtered, with the sole exception of his sister Nezuko, who has been turned into a flesh-eating demon. Driven by hatred and despair, Tanjirou desperately tries to stop Nezuko from attacking others, setting out on a journey to avenge his family and find a way to turn his beloved sister back into a human.
